Thurø Reef is one of the island's natural treasures. A large, open meadow area on the southeast part of the island. It is a bird sanctuary, which can be visited
all year round and in the different seasons offer a changing birdlife. Saylors who come to Svendborg and Thurø know that the entrance of the Svendborg Sound
can only be found if one from the north has rounded the Thurø seamark which marks the extreme shallow area between Thurø and Tåsinge.

To the west, you can view a cottege settlement called "Valborg's box". The name comes from the days when the Thurø ships only came back to the island
in winter time. Schooner "Valborg" had a mailbox by the road to the settlement, which now lives on the name.

Gambøt port on the south side of one arm of the "horseshoe" is one of the places in Thurø where it is still possible to sense the island's past as a seafaring community.

The Pacifier Tree in Port Gambøt not imply its name for nothing. Here children have for generations, and to parants' request, of course, delivered their dearest
possession.

As can be seen in many Danish parishes Thurø Church has been built on the highest point of the island. From its north side one can overlook the strait between
Thurø and Funen. The cementary is probably one of the most beatiful in the country.

One of the last works by Svend Havsteen-Mikkelsen managed to complete before his death, is this little window of glass mosaic in the north wall of the church.
Its motive is the Pentacost, and it is called: "Tongues as of Fire". The window gives a warm light to a part of the church, which was quite dark.

Moreover Thurø Church is in its pictural expression characterized by the Easter events. Especially is Good Friday depicted with the suffering Christ on the cross
on the church's north wall and in part of the alterpiece from which the image is an excerpt.

Two different bridges connect Thurø and Tåsinge with Svendborg. The small one is the bridge to Thurø, and only small boats can go under the bridge
The bridge to Tåsinge is 32 meters high, and you come to the bridge directly from the highway from Odense

Under the bridge goes ferries several times a day to the islands Ærø and Drejø
